AWANLE AYIBORO

We are happy to announce Awanle Ayiboro’s residency with Gallery 1957. This will be followed by a solo exhibition later in the year, curated by Nana Yaa Asare Boadu.

Awanle Ayiboro Hawa Ali, is a Ghanaian visual artist born in 1997, and a member of the Artemartis collective.

Dedicated to extensive research, experiments, and ceaseless artistic exploration, Awanle navigates the delicate balance between tradition and liberation within the sacred intimacy and complexities of home.

COURAGE HUNKE, KWAKU YARO

Congratulations to Courage Hunke & Kwaku Yaro, who will be exhibiting in 'IN COMMUNION’, an exhibition by 31 PROJECT and SEPTIEME featuring Mariama Conteh, Courage Hunke, Léonard Pongo, Kwaku Yaro and Charlotte Yonga. The exhibition runs from 20th June to 20th July.

THE ALLEGORY OF A SEEKER (SOLO EXHIBITION)

ABDUR RAHMAN MUHAMMAD

Congratulations to Abdur Rahman Muhammad on his upcoming solo exhibition titled "The Allegory of a Seeker" with ADA Contemporary Art Gallery, Accra - Ghana. This exhibition will run from 25th April to 2nd June, 2024.

Abdur Rahman Muhammad (Ghanaian, b. 1992) is a contemporary artist who works and resides in Accra. His work explores the impact that the high unemployment rate has had on Ghanaian youth, particularly through the lens of the overconsumption of Western cultural media. Abdur captures in oil on canvas the stories of young men and women who brave perilous journeys for their dreams of a better life in the land of 'milk and honey!’ He is a member of the Ghanaian art collective, Artemartis.

Artemartis is proud to announce the Solo Show of Kwaku Yaro titled “Material Muses” with Loft Art Gallery, Marrakech, opening on 11th May, 2024.

“Material Muses” will showcase the works of Kwaku Yaro, a self-taught mixed media artist from Accra, Ghana. The exhibition will explore the textural aesthetics and qualities of his work, showcasing his extraordinary talent for the repurposing of materials.

Yaro possesses a unique and distinct approach to portraiture that utilizes a variety of textiles such as mats, plastic carrier bags, patterned fabrics and jute sacks to collage his portraits, expanding their dimension. This exhibition showcases the artist’s aim to redefine traditional textile use and explore the endless possibilities material can provide.
